Engineered Biochar (EB)
As distinct from charcoal, Engineered Biochar (EB) is produced by pyrolysis under controlled conditions and inoculated to give the final the product a set of prescribed qualities – higher fixed carbon content, porosity and electric charge – that improve its efficacy in water and nutrient retention and heavy metal adsorption.
As a soil amendment, EB improves crop yields by raising pH, increasing Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) and reduces nutrient immobilization.
